XMartial Spats Review

XMartial is one of the biggest brands in martial arts with their gear having some really standout designs, but how do their spats stack up in terms of quality?

I’m sure you’ve seen rising bjj stars and content creators all wearing and selling their gear so in this breakdown we’ll give you our review of their spats.

Our opinion: XMartial spats are a decent buy if you like their designs. Overall, quality was pretty comparable to other spats in the same price range, and they have some nice features like being made of thicker material and having a reinforced waistband.

Main Takeaway

+ Pros / – Cons
+Standout designs
+Thicker, high quality material
+Rubber waistband liner
+ Good sizing (Size: L Fit perfectly for me at 6′ / 200 lbs)
+/- About midrange on price point
-Most are not IBJJF legal

My personal experience: While I’m usually a fan of simpler designs like bjj apparel from Sanabul, Fuji, or Gold BJJ, the XMartial spats were pretty decent quality and actually fit perfectly (most spats are usually run short on me). So I’d say if you’re a fan of their designs they are worth it.

Why You May Not Like XMartial Spats or Gear

Some of the main reasons why you might not want to buy a spats from XMartial are:

  • If you don’t like their designs or logos
  • If you want to buy a cheap pair (like those from Sanabul or Elite)

Honestly, most spats in a similar price range are all pretty comparable in terms of quality so ultimately, it may come down to whether or you prefer their design and fit.

I feel like XMartial spats are definitely similar to other brands in their price range like those from FUJI, or Gold BJJ.

However, if you want to upgrade to a more expensive pair of spats, you really can’t beat those from Hayabusa, but, unfortunately, you will have to pay a bit more.

Vs Sanabul Spats

What does Sanabul have that XMartial does not?:

  • More affordable spats
  • Simple designs
  • However, they lack the better fit that XMartial has (as you see their spats ride up a big high on my ankles)

Overall Takeaway: You may want to go with Sanabul if you just want a simple and affordable pair of spats. At less than half the price of XMartial spats, you may want to consider Sanabul if you want a cheaper pair

Vs Hayabusa Spats

What does Hayabusa have that XMartial does not?:

  • Better fit
  • Rubber ankle liners
  • Reinforced rubber waistband liner
  • They feel like spandex mixed with leather (extremely durable and sweat-wicking)

Overall Takeaway: If I’m being honest Hayabasu spats are my favorite in terms of quality, fit, and durability. However, they come at a higher price point than XMartial. So if you want to upgrade to a higher quality pair and are okay with the price, Hayabusa spats are a good option.

Is XMartial a Good Brand?

Yes, XMartial is a pretty good brand. However, they really push their logo on all of their designs so if you prefer spats or rash guard with a more simpler designs, XMartial may not be your first pick.

Over the last six years, I’ve gone through phases when I prefer to wear spats (usually in the colder months or if I’m afraid to get skin infections before a competition). XMartial spats are pretty decent quality especially when consider their middling price.
