No you don’t need a mouthguard for BJJ.

While wearing a mouthguard isn’t mandatory, it is recommended especially if you are concerned with protecting your teeth and mouth in Brazilian jiu jitsu training. However some may find them uncomfortable to wear if they are not used to them.
